Do these courses count for high school credit?
- Yes, these courses will go on your high school transcript and count towards meeting high school graduation requirements.
Will I earn a grade or will this go on my transcript as a ‘Pass’?
- Beginning Summer 2025 semester, the earned grade will go on transcripts, students will no longer receive a ‘Pass’ for Summer Health and Personal Fitness courses.
Will I have a teacher?
- Yes, the FVA Health and Personal Fitness courses are taught by certified Fayette County teachers. You will have an assigned teacher for a point of contact.
When do the classes have to be completed?
- The FVA Summer Semester is 6 weeks long. All assignments must be submitted by the last day of the semester.
Do I have to login at certain times?
- No, the courses are completely asynchronous. There are no scheduled class meetings. Students choose when they want to work on assignments.
Can I finish assignments/classes early?
- Yes, on the first day of the semester, all 6 weeks of course content will be available. The Health course can be completed as early as possible. The Personal Fitness course requires weekly physical activity logs that cannot be submitted early, but all other PE assignments can be submitted early.
How does Personal Fitness work in a virtual environment?
- There are traditional assignments that can be completed at any point during the semester. For physical activity, students are required to participate in some form of physical activity each week and log their activity based on an honor system. These activity logs should be submitted once per week.
Where do I access course content?
- Course content will be in Schoology. There will be one tile/course for Health and one tile/course for Personal Fitness.
Can I travel and still complete my courses?
- Yes. Summer travel is normal and welcomed. You can login and submit assignments most anywhere you have an internet connection. Or, you can submit assignments before and after your dates of travel so long as everything is submitted by the last day of the semester.
What about international travel access?
- Students who will be traveling internationally must fill out the FVA International Travel Account Request form prior to their travel in order to receive access to course content. Most countries will be approved, but due to recent international security concerns, some access will be denied. Some examples of current blacklisted countries are: China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, India, Syria, Nigeria, Venezuela, & Vietnam.
- If you will be traveling internationally, it is recommended that you fill out the FVA International Travel Account Access Request form prior to course payment, to know whether or not access will be a concern.
- Please keep in mind that course content can always be completed before and after international travel so long as all assignments are submitted before the last day of the FVA Summer Semester.
What if I will be out of town and unable to login when the semester starts?
- Since there is flexibility as to when assignments are submitted, this is acceptable. However, you should notify your teacher if you know you will not submit any assignments during the first week of Summer Semester.
Once I register, how do I get my high school schedule changed to remove Health/PE?
- High School schedules will not be altered until the courses are successfully completed. Once Summer Semester grades are posted to transcripts, FVA will notify high school counselors. High School counselors return to work two weeks before the start of Fall Semester for students. You can reach out to your high school counselor at that time to schedule replacement courses.
